About

My name’s Wyatt Lucas and I’m a software engineer. I graduated from Rutgers University in August 2020 with a BA in Information Technology and Minor in Creative Writing. I lived in New Jersey until I moved to NYC in August 2023.

My hobbies include dancing, bodybuilding, listening to music, and reading books (especially sci-fi and non-fiction). I’ve been vegan since January 2018.

I greatly enjoyed dancing on rare occasions as a child, then rediscovered this in 2018 when I got into psy/bass music events. Once I started raving more regularly towards the end of 2022, I decided that it was time to become skilled in a discipline of dance. It was around then that I discovered a video of Liquid Eric. I was entranced and knew that I wanted to learn liquid dance. I started working through liquid tutorials at the beginning of 2023, and quickly happened upon tutting and waving as well. As a neurodivergent person, dancing functions as a way to channel “stimming” into art.

I purchased my first pair of LED gloves in March, somewhat reluctantly as I was nervous about people asking for lightshows. As I improved in skill, I found that lightshows were actually the best part. The intimacy involved in throwing a show for someone (whether a stranger or friend) is difficult to match in the world of performance art. It electrifies me to instill awe or joy as I mesmerize them, and the gratitude exchanged afterwards is certainly bidirectional. Gloving is complementary to my full-body style in that it is mostly taxing on different muscle groups, so it provides me with a larger pool of time to practice and perform.

I generally go to raves every Friday and Saturday night (psy/bass/techno/hard dance), on top of practicing ~3 hours each weekday. My style is largely defined by a desire to blend technical, geometric movements with a smooth flow. When dancing, I aim to maintain a beautiful aesthetic without compromising technicality or self-expression. I find tutting to be the most satisfying branch of movement.
